"gfxui has stopped working" on win7

i have tried most of the solution i found on google.
but i decided to just remove the display driver from intel and let it detect and install the driver by itself.

what i did was go to start, right click on 'computer'.select 'properties'.
on the window that opens, on the left pane, click 'device manager'.

open 'display adapters', it should show the display card. right click on that item and click on 'uninstall'.

windows will ask you to restart computer. do that. and when it comes back on, it will detect the display driver by itself and install it.
windows will ask you to restart again. do that.

then the intel display driver was replaced by the driver that's signed by microsoft.
i actually like it better because there's no 'intel hd graphic menu' running on startup.


UPDATE:
i have updated to the new driver, dated 11/16/2012.
after update, the message "gfxui has stopped working" popped up again.
simple go to start, in  search, type 'msconfig' and enter to open up msconfig.
then click 'startup' tab to disable all intel related apps 'gfxui'. there're 3 of them.

that solved the problem.

Solution to eliminating the default SimSun font in MS Word even using Pinyin IME

this is so awesome i have to post about it.
i have been bothered with word 2010 when typing chinese, the font would automatically revert to simsum no matter what you do. no matter what setting you change.
then finally this solution came up.
thanks to the guy who figured it out.
just follow the instruction.
the logic is to change pinyin IME to another category. in my case is changing google pinyin to chinese (traditional) category.
and then the problem was solved.

If you type Chinese in MS Word 2003 using Pinyin IME, SimSun will always be the default font no matter what the current font is. Microsoft tried to be smart to set the font by detecting your IME. But I would rather use Microsoft JhengHei font in MS Word 200 by default.

The solution is to change the IME to a different language.

If you installed QQ pinyin, just search for "qqpinyin" in your registry. ( You can open it by "regedit.exe") Or you can search for "google pinyin" or something else. Then find

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layouts\E0200804

The last E0200804 may be different by your IME. But last four digits 0804 stands for Chinese(PRC). 0404 stands for Chinese(Taiwan). 0409 stands for English(US). Change 0804 to 0404 or 0409. It is also possible to let the IME belong to English category and you will find something very interesting in MS word when typing.

Log off and log on. Then add your IME from the control panel. Now the pinyin IME is under the Chinese(Taiwan) category or English(US)

If you use this pinyin IME in your word, SimSun will not automatically appear.
